UL’s decades of experience in assisting manufacturers in bringing wireless products to the market enables us to guide our customers through every aspect of cellular regulatory conformance. Rely on UL to help ensure that products meet compliance demands, gain carrier acceptance and quickly achieve unrestricted access to the global marketplace.
We offer pre-certification testing and debugging services to spot potential compliance and performance problems as early as possible, helping manufacturers reduce costly late-stage remediation and avoid recalls. We utilize automated processes and parallel testing to accelerate turnaround times. We have established expertise in certifying converged wireless devices to both industry compatibility standards and regulatory requirements.
UL tests all of the major cellular technologies (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA and LTE) in one of the world’s most complete cellular conformance facilities. Our laboratories are approved by CTIA-The Wireless Association and are equipped to test 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. UL continues to invest in testing and conformance equipment for emerging technologies in alignment with our corporate commitment to remain at the forefront of cellular approval testing.
UL is accredited as a Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB), Foreign Certification Body (FCB) and a Notified Body, and so can help customers gain speedy access to markets in North America, Canada, Europe and Asia. We are a primary test lab for PTCRB, the certification forum by North American cellular operators and a Recognized Test Organization (RTO) for the Global Certification Forum (GCF) testing to all 3GPP standards required to conform to these programs. Devices that are not certified to be in compliance with these standards may not be able to gain access to the cellular networks in their target markets.
For all other global markets, UL has an experienced team dedicated to helping customers gain access to their target market, including facilitating the application procedure and organizing in-country testing.
Are you developing products integrating cellular within Europe? We have recently launched a new European Consumer Technology website. You can find information on your local SAR, OTA and PTCRB and GCF Testing services among others.
