In several regions in the Middle East, ambitious renewable energy targets are in place and substantial growth is expected in the near future. To help support this effort, UL recently entered into a joint venture with Saudi-based GCC Labs. This partnership, which combines resources, knowledge, and expertise, will operate as a UL and GCC Labs Company based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The joint venture company will offer numerous services, including pre-commissioning tests, construction monitoring services and product testing of solar PV modules. Additionally, the partnership aims to leverage UL’s reputation as a leading safety science company in the region and GCC Lab’s strength and mandate as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative to diversify its economy.
According to Hamid Syed, Vice President & GM, UL Middle East, “This agreement represents each organization’s strong commitment to providing customers with all services related to renewables to meet the varied climate of the region.”
