Fire extinguishing systems are reliant on the integrity and compatibility of their components, from the cylinders that store extinguishing agents to the detection, actuation, and distribution piping and discharge devices.

More than 60 years ago, UL developed the tests required to evaluate limitations and certify a broad range of fire extinguishing systems. UL continues to work closely with fire extinguishing system manufacturers to support them in their drive to create safer, more effective products with new technologies.

We test to UL-developed safety and performance standards for extinguishing systems that are designed, installed and maintained in accordance with NFPA standards. Certified components are correlated to the applicable standards, helping simplify both the design and testing process for manufacturers.

Our fire safety engineers can further assist our customers in addressing specific design and performance challenges and innovative technologies with extinguishing systems.
