UL is proud to join the International Fire Safety Standards Coalition (IFSS) with more than 30 organizations globally to develop landmark industry standards to address fire safety in buildings. This is the first collation of its type and was formed due to a need for stricter building requirements and basic fire safety principles stemming from recent world events such as the Grenfell Tower fire and other cladding related fires. UL was approached to join the collation due to our technical expertise and knowledge in the field of fire safety. Dwayne Sloan, Technical Director of the UL Building and Life Safety Technologies division, joined this first group meeting held at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

We will be working closely with the UL Standards organization on future participation. More information about the collation can be found in this article from UK Fire Magazine: https://ukfiremag.mdmpublishing.com/landmark-industry-standards-to-address-fire-safety-in-buildings/.
