UL provides comprehensive test tools for payment cards and applications.
UL has developed a range of payment card and application test tools and host test tools to help card manufacturers, personalization bureaus and issuing banks to verify correct functioning and personalization of their payment products as well as issuing host systems while adhering to necessary regulatory and payment brand requirements. UL test tools are accredited by the major payment brands.
Professional test tools and precertification test suites are an absolute necessity when migrating to EMV or launching new payment products on the market. Any EMV card application, secure element (SE) application or cloud-based payment application needs to be checked according to the latest test specifications from EMVCo, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB, Discover, UnionPay and others.
UL’s test tools help guide customers toward a smooth, efficient and trouble-free go-live of payment infrastructure. Our portfolio includes test tools for MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, UnionPay, Interac and a number of country-specific payment schemes precertification, certification and validation.
Besides testing physical contact and contactless EMV payment cards, UL test tools support testing of mobile applications based on host card emulation (HCE), cloud-based, embedded Secure Elements (eSE), Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (UICC) and micro Secure Digital (mSD) cards as well as near field communication (NFC) tags, smart watches and any other form factor that an issuer would like to use to issue any payment product.
To enable mobile payments (either cloud-based, tokenized or relying on hardware secure elements), issuers are required to configure the on-behalf services of the payment network and their issuing infrastructure, and also test against the requirements set for Digital Enablement Services from payment networks like MasterCard and Visa, or other proprietary technologies, including trusted service managers.
UL test tools can be used for contact and contactless EMV cards or for payments done with a mobile phone. To enable mobile payments, either cloud-based, through HCE, or relying on hardware secure elements, UL offers fully integrated and automated test tools and precertification test suites to facilitate testing and the certification process of your payment products.
