MoE Restricts Certain Nonylphenols for Household and Industrial Use

Landing Copy: South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MOE) has released its updated list of substances restricted under K-REACH, namely:

  • Nonylphenols, with CAS Nos. 25154-52-3, 104-40-5, 84852-15- 3, 139-84-4, 136-83-4, 90481-04-2 and 11066-49-2)
  • Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), with CAS Nos. 9016-45-9, 27177-05- 5, 68412-54-4, 127087-87-0, 68412-53-3, 26027-38-3 and 37205-87-1
  • Mixtures containing these over 0.1%

They are restricted from manufacture, import, sale, storage, transport or use in the following:

  • household cleaners, inks or paints
  • industrial or business purpose cleaners, detergents, textile or leather finishing

It will take effect on December 30, 2016 for most substances besides CAS Nos. 68412-54-4, 37205-87-1, 26027-38-3 and 127087-87-0 which will be enforced on July 1, 2018.
