UL has expanded its laser testing capabilities in the United States by adding a brand new laser laboratory at its Fremont, CA location. The Fremont Laser Laboratory is capable of testing products to the major laser product safety Standards: IEC 60825-1 and FDA/CDRH 21CFR Part 1040. The testing from this new laboratory can be used to support compliance for these two Standards, as well as compliance to base UL and IEC Standards for specific equipment such as IEC/UL 60950-1 (Information Technology Equipment), IEC/UL 62368-1 (Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment) , and more.

The Fremont Laser Laboratory can provide test data that meets various levels of manufacturers’ needs, including:

• The laser test results per IEC 60825-1 and/or FDA/CDRH 21CFR Part 1040 requirements

• The laser test results and laser hazard classification per IEC 60825-1 and/or FDA/CDRH 21CFR Part 1040 requirements

• Full IEC 60825-1 and/or FDA/CDRH Laser Reports

Along with UL’s Laser Laboratory in Research Triangle Park, NC, the new Fremont Laser Laboratory gives UL an expanded footprint in the US for laser testing services.
