In June 2015, UL established a task group to evaluate the complexities and challenges associated with cyber risk and develop an outline of specification from its initial investigation. This outline became the testable technical criteria for the UL 2900 Standard series. A Standards Technical Panel (STP) was assembled to begin drafting the standard, with the goal of publishing UL 2900 as a national standard for both the U.S. and Canada (ANSI/SCC) in 2017.
