UL, a global independent safety science company, is now collaborating with Stantec Consulting Limited to offer field evaluation of the estimated 300,000 natural gas burners and appliances in Alberta. This regulatory requirement in Alberta, which needs to be met before the January 1, 2020 deadline, states that all field evaluations must be conducted by accredited, third-party inspectors and many of the existing units have not been evaluated nor were certified under the old requirements. UL and Stantec’s combined engineering expertise and inspection capabilities to conduct field evaluations will benefit the Oil & Gas industry in Alberta.

UL’s mission is to work toward a safer world and, for more than 95 years, UL in Canada has been doing exactly that by pioneering progress in safety science and providing various services — including inspection and certification — to help keep Canadians safe. With global locations and a strong focus on community, Stantec works in various fields, including engineering and environmental sciences, and is committed to the people and places it serves. Together, UL and Stantec will help ensure the safety of the larger Alberta community for full code B149.3 compliance of all natural gas burners and appliances by 2020.
