The UL motor team has deep expertise to address all your motor needs. From the smallest servo motors to medium voltage generators designed for wind turbine installations, we have staff that can help certify your product—whether it’s being installed in North America or aboard.
UL has spent the last decade developing standards to address different types of industrial motors, including servo, stepper, generators, inverter duty, and the world’s first and only Firepump Motor standard. In 2016, UL introduced our newest standard, UL 1004-9, Form Wound and Medium Voltage Rotating Electrical Machines, covering machines rated up to 34,000V.
To keep with evolving industry needs, we’ve updated our certifications to support full Listing—granting better acceptance across North America so you can use a single Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) company. We’ve also expanded our accreditations to include IEC 60034-1 and IEC 60034-2-1, helping you get access to the international market. And in late 2015, we began offering certifications for EV traction and Smoke Extraction motors.
Along with our standard safety certifications, we now offer a complete suite of services for all your industrial needs:
- Type certificates
- Energy efficiency Testing
- IEC-based insulation system evaluations
- ATEX and IECex
- Field evaluations
